South Street Honey
Education and Learning

Our biggest passion is sharing our knowledge with others, you and old. From class room school visits, community and group bee talks to walking hive visits, we just love to share our love for honeybees and pollinators.

School and Classroom
Our tailored classroom visits are captivating and packed full of information for all key stages. General bee husbandry, the life cycle and the environment all fall into the classroom time. Mock hives with colour insert frames show the working of the hive, dress up as a beekeeper for the younger key stages, and a new addition for 2026, a live special sealed hive of honeybees!

Community and Groups
Our community talk and group talk program is an enthralling 45 minutes of bee knowledge with a question and hopefully answers session at the end. We will talk about the life cycle of a honeybee, how they have adapted over time, threats to the survival of the honeybee, and how humans are bringing the honeybee back into the conversation.

Apiary and Beehive
There is nothing like a visit to a honeybee apiary. The session starts with some bee chat targeted to the age group, with of course questions. Suiting up and more excitement follows, before we walk into the apiary for a session of hands on learning with the bees.
We have two teaching apiaries that are used for the hive visits. Group sizes of 8 to 10 people of any age.
